Albinism, resulting from the lack of normal pigmentation, is a naturally occurring event. However, in the wild, such remarkable coloration (or lack of) usually results in premature death because of high visibility to potential predators. In captivity, herpetoculturists often selectively breed color variants in the hopes of producing striking color patterns.
